Drawing upon their experience renovating a number of past properties, Teresa and Terry Gibbons opted to build a home from scratch. They turned to specialist timber frame manufacturer Potton and made some alterations to their Papplewick design.
The red brick and pantile finish blends with the local vernacular and adds to the classic rectory aesthetic. Elsewhere, generous glazing gives the interior a light and airy feel.
Thanks to their hands-on approach, the couple were able to complete the project for a cost of just £1,257 per m2.
“Doing most of the work ourselves meant we could keep a very close eye on the budget,” says Teresa. “I knew how much everything cost, from the tiles and bricks to the bathrooms and kitchen.”
