Builders’ merchants Jewson have announced that the winners of their annual self-build competition will receive an impressive £250,000 prize pot.
Building Better Communities was established to support self-builders and projects in need. Know a deserving community project or tradesperson who could benefit from a helping hand? You can nominate them to win a share of £250,000 in building materials, with two top prizes of up to £50,000.
Also up for grabs is a fund of £150,000 to support community groups from 11 areas around the UK. The boost could help to finance a range of essentials works, from revamping a sports club’s changing rooms, to replacing the roof of a youth centre.
After a shortlisting process and a public vote, the winning projects from each category will be announced on 3rd July 2018 at a ceremony hosted by celebrity architect, George Clarke.
Clarke, who is involved in Building Better Communities for the second year running, said: “The funds donated as part of the Building Better Communities competition are making a huge difference to local charities and community groups across Great Britain, and can do the same for others.
“We know there are groups doing great work on a daily basis, so it’s an honour to be supporting them and I’m really looking forward to learning about this year’s entries.”
Community groups and tradespeople have until Wednesday 9th May to submit their nominations through the competition’s website. Build Better Communities 2018 is supported by Jewson supplier brands: Velux; Marshalls, Polypipe; British Gypsum; Tarmac; Recticel and Norbord.
