Use the code BUILD for 20% offWhen our clients bought this 1960s three-storey house, it needed a complete renovation. The house was a warren of rooms and very dark inside.
Despite oil fuel bills of more than £2,000 a year, it was freezing cold and miserable to live in. Our clients therefore wanted to not only transform their property in terms of its look and feel but to create a comfortable home with a high level of energy performance.
The build took 12 months, and was project managed by CLPM from the initial design stages to completion.
The house was gutted and rebuilt to create a completely new, modern layout with vaulted ceilings, new full height windows, rooflights, a glass floor panel and a three-storey stairwell to create a light, open space.
Eco credentials were key, so the roof and then external walls were insulated to 100mm both inside and out before being rendered with a breathable eco-render and clad with red cedar.
The windows were highly energy efficient too and the house is now heated via an Air Source Heat pump with under-floor heating as well as two wood burning stoves.
A photo voltaic array was installed to generate electricity. The result is a 1960’s eco home refurbishment with the look and energy performance of a 21st century new build.
