The brief for this award-winning home was “modern, different and energy efficient”, and the architects certainly delivered!

The owners of this striking new home in Lincolnshire had returned to live in the UK and recognised the opportunity to build their new home in a style and to a standard of their choosing, rather than accept the standard packages offered by the mainstream housebuilders.

The five bedroomed home features largely open plan living areas on the ground floor with glazed areas linking to the outdoor patio and gardens. A local building company undertook the construction and was assisted on occasion by the architect’s personnel gaining “hands-on” experience of the Wallform building system.

Drawing influence from the surrounding area, the architect also looked at light industrial and commercial buildings in the locality for the material pallet. The industrial feel is continued inside with solid hard floors, concrete worktops and full height doors throughout.

The building has received great local acclaim from almost everyone who sees it and has been awarded a Civic Society Award for “impressive contributions to streetscape through the creation of innovative buildings”.
