This house showcases outstanding cooperation between Germany and the UK.
The house was designed by a UK architect, with groundworks and floor slab done by a British company.
The all-important highly insulated house shell was manufactured in the Meisterstueck-HAUS factory in Hamlin, Germany, and transported to site and assembled by the Meisterstueck-HAUS team within days. The internal fit-out was then done by UK trades, meaning only the shell was paid in Euros.
Several of the architectural details were not standard for Meisterstueck-HAUS, but the team at the factory were not fazed. They delivered a house which looks exactly like the client had envisaged.
The family home, with six large bedrooms, was designed for a growing family and working parents, with clearly designated zones so that parents have their own quiet area. Despite the large internal floor area, the home is highly energy-efficient, with estimated annual energy costs below £1,000.
After several years of living in the house, the proud houseowner says: “This house is beautiful and just divine to live in.”
The house received an award for best Offsite Manufactured UK house 2017 from Build It Magazine, with judges commenting:
“We were really impressed with the speed, accuracy and value-for-money achieved on this bespoke scheme. The shell of this home was completed in just two weeks, including all the external finishes, windows and doors – allowing the self-builders to get straight on with the internal fit-out.”
Meisterstueck-HAUS delivers German precision engineering combined with UK design – European cooperation at its best. Find out more about this project.
