Beautiful Georgian Style Self Build

Mark and Helen Jackson were confident they had found the perfect partner to help them build their dream home when they met up with Potton at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre in Swindon.

This was followed by a trip to our show centre in St Neots, where they took inspiration from our five fully furnished show homes, and visits to Potton houses in the Cambridgeshire area.

“The Potton self build consultant gave excellent advice, which helped us decide that Potton was the right choice for us,” explains Mark. “The service we received was professional, efficient and we felt supported throughout the whole process.”

The couple had already drawn up a design for their house and planning permission had been granted before they started working with Potton, but we took their design and created formal plans, enhancing the original layout with extra features including a beautiful, vaulted ceiling to the open-plan living space.

Our work with the Jacksons included producing the engineering and structural calculations for building regs, as well as manufacturing the house’s timber frame at our Cambridgeshire factory. Erection of the frame took a matter of weeks, and we also supplied and fitted the external windows and doors.

Thermal efficiency was important for the couple so they decided on Kingspan’s ULTIMA system, as well as an air source heat pump and MVHR system. They’re glad they made this one of their priorities says Mark as their new homes is “The best insulated house we have ever lived in”.
