Country Style Gabled Cottage

After being in the same village for 15 years and needing to downsize from nearly an acre of garden, Michael and Angela Romeril decided that building their own home was the natural thing to do next.

The couple visited various self-build exhibitions and this is where they met experienced Potton Self Build Consultant, Sean Adams.

“At the time we didn’t yet own a plot, however Sean was very intuitive and listened to our ideas for a future project. He had a lot of experience and we felt comfortable with him” says Angela.

Sean assured them he would come up with a bespoke design to suit their needs so they decided to take advantage of the full Potton service which included the Architectural design, planning permission and building regulation application package. With the plot finally purchased, a planning application was submitted and granted with absolutely no issues and minimal delay.

The couple used to visit the site around once a month, otherwise virtually everything was done by phone and email. From those local visits and by visiting larger providers in the North, they were able to choose materials, suppliers and products to equip their new home.  “Our builders used local builders merchants in the area who were able to supply what we’d sourced and deliver to the site, and it all worked very well” said Michael
