Long Four Acres in Norfolk, shortlisted for Best Custom or Community Development at the Build It Awards this year, will have 15 serviced plots for self builders to construct their bespoke homes.
Each plot in Long Four Acres will be connected to water, electricity, drainage as well as easy access to public highways. The plots also have outline planning permission, allowing self builders design freedom to express their lifestyle.

Properties in this custom build development will follow an agree design code, which recommends a variety of building materials and states rules on maximum height, principle frontage and some expected landscaping requirements.
Finished homes will feature generous gardens and residents will have a responsibility to plant and maintain native hedgerows.
The initiative was born when Karen and Kevin Keable decided to build a home in their five acre site. However, the couple soon discovered their project for a self build home was unlikely to gain planning permission. Instead, they were advised, they could secure consent for 15 unique dwellings.
BuildStore and Lanpro were engaged to provide Karen and Kevin with services to help them bring the site forward, before the plots were brought to the market by Custom Build Homes.

The custom build site benefits from easy access to local shops and pubs. In addition, Norwich city centre is a 25 minutes drive, offering an array of commercial and leisure amenities.
As the infrastructure works begin, self builders are expected to have their serviced plots before Christmas, thus enabling them to start building their homes in early 2019. The future residents of Long Four Acres hope to create a lasting, vibrant community.
