The Georgian inspired 3 bedroom home was built by Mike Dillon in memory of his late wife Joan. The house is modelled on Joan’s family’s houses, which are all great for entertaining and welcoming the whole family.
As the plot is next to a ruined castle, before building could state the land was searched with a smooth-blade digger for items of archaeological significance, but nothing was unearthed.
Mike’s local community were also involved in advising the build as one was a builder with self-build experience and one was a contracts manager who compiled a schedule of works for the project with indicative costs.
In keeping with the house’s Georgian design, Mike opted for traditional leadwork and heritage-style rainwater goods, including cast-iron style hoppers and downpipes.
The house is also traditionally plastered and includes coving appropriate to the Georgian era, as well limestone and engineered oak floors.
