Jimmy Lawson and Hanne Stemann decided to build a second home in Scotland, where Jimmy grew up. As Hanne is Danish, they decided to build a Scandinavian house in the Isle of Skye to reflect both of their upbringings.
The house is inspired by Viking longhouses and so is a simple box shape in untreated larch cladding, which blends in with the surrounding stone.
To provide shelter from the wind, a wooden wall juts out from the west side of the house. An opening cut into the wood at an angle prevents the sea view from bring obscured.
