You’d have hard time finding a self-builder without a strong interest in ensuring both an energy efficient and healthy new home. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Big Green Home Show is returning to the National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC) in Swindon this year.
It hopes to educate visitors on the environmental and economic benefits of building a green home, with a variety of live demonstrations, free seminars and case studies across three days.
The show, running from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th October, will also give people the chance to meet numerous experts for one-to-one advice – including the NSBRC’s own team of impartial experts, along with eco-consultants, architects, project managers and planners.
This year the NSBRC is placing a particular emphasis on creating a healthier living environment for you and your family, a topic often overlooked by those building their own home.
“The Big Green Home Show is about gaining inspiration and knowledge. You come here before you go to the salespeople,” says David Hilton, NSBRC Eco Expert.
The seminars will also cover the range of subjects essential to getting your project underway. From planning news to budgeting, plot finding and building regulations, the free talks and workshops on offer are a great way to gain confidence and understanding going into your scheme.
“Whatever project you are considering, be it a new build, renovation or an extension, the Big Green Home Show is the place to start. The exhibitors & consultants offer free guidance and advice. It’s a learning centre with seminars and experts available to cover all areas of designing and building a home,” says Sue Dewhirst from Evolved Design.
